Extra Help is one of the UK’s most established home help and domestic services franchises, operating in a growing, recession-resilient market since 2010. With over 35 franchisees across the UK, the business has a proven model built around providing flexible, personalised home help services to elderly and vulnerable clients who wish to maintain their independence at home.
The model is straightforward. Franchisees charge clients a flat hourly fee and work with self-employed home helpers to deliver the service. Your role as a franchise owner is to find clients, recruit reliable home helpers, and manage relationships — building a business with genuine repeat revenue and strong community ties.
Extra Help was deemed an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic and remained fully operational throughout, underscoring the resilience of the market it operates in. Several franchisees are generating in excess of £5,500 per month, with others bringing in £4,000 or more — demonstrating the earning potential of the model when operated consistently.
Who is the Extra Help franchise for?
Extra Help suits people who are caring, community-minded, and good with people. You do not need experience in the care sector — full training is provided. What matters is a genuine desire to make a difference in your local community, good people management skills, and the motivation to build a business with real purpose alongside real income.
This is an ideal opportunity for career changers, people returning to work after a break, or anyone looking for a business that fits around family life while still generating a meaningful income.
Training and support
All franchisees go through a comprehensive initial training programme covering how to find clients, recruit home helpers, manage operations, and market locally. Ongoing support is provided by Sarah Canny, Director of Operations, and Denise Cooper, Franchise Manager and Trainer — both of whom are experienced franchisees themselves and understand the business from the inside.
Your first three months of trading are completely free of service fees, giving you time to establish your client base before costs kick in.
